Rocky Maivia was the original wrestling persona of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when he debuted in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1996. He was presented as a clean-cut, heroic "babyface" wrestler, drawing inspiration from his father Rocky Johnson and grandfather Peter Maivia, making him the WWF's first third-generation wrestler. While initially pushed heavily and even winning the Intercontinental Championship, the character's overly positive persona and lack of depth led to fan backlash and eventually, a turn to the "heel" (villain) character known as The Rock.
