Why do we have strange hours?

Since we’ve had people inquiring as to why, our hours are so limited right now, I thought I’d make a quick post to explain how Covid-19 has changed our business, but for the better.

Pre-Covid, we’d be behind on collections that come in, and we’d stick them in the backroom, or the basement, and forget about them. When Covid-19 showed up, and our city was in shutdown, that allowed us PLENTY of time to go through it all… and we “found” a ton of stuff we had forgotten we had!

For now, our store is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for in store sales, and online 24 hours. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are reserved for sorting collections, adding items to the site, processing website orders, and general clean up of the shop. Sunday we generally purchase collections, and take the rest of the day off.

So there you have it. It may not be the most normal business model out there, and may not be the best set up for you personally, but it’s been working amazingly well for us these last three months, and our customers seem to enjoy the constant flow of product, updated inventory, and faster processing of collections! Also, with the threat of an upcoming possible shut down again, right before Christmas, we thought it best to get as much as we can online should that happen, and that takes up a ton of time. We’ve always adapted with the changing hobby, and this is just another way to adapt to serve our customers the best way we can. Keep in mind, we’ve been at this since before there was an internet!

So what happens when Covid goes away? We’ll decide at that time what we’re going to do. Maybe we’ll just re-open full hours again, and hire some folks to help out with the site and the store!
