Assembling the Flagg.

Posted on March 14, 2012

....will I ever be? Really?
Something that has dawned on me while sorting through all of these boxes and totes of Joe, Transformer and Star Wars items is that while I enjoy doing this, I think I'm going to be doing this for the rest of my life. I enjoy completing vehicles and figures. Discovering "what else" is in "this" box here or "that" box there. It keeps this hobby fun for me, and it keeps me feeling young. I mean, let's face it, I'm nearly 39 and I get to sort through toys all day and "play" in a sense with stuff I had growing up. 100%, I'm lucky.

If you've been following with the BHT Facebook page, or the Twitter feed, then you'll know I've been sorting this stuff since my last update. That is a crapload of stuff to sort through. During my sorting, I came across two USS Flaggs. Neither were complete, but between them one was about 90% complete. I thought about it for a couple of days - you know, what to do with it... Sell it as a Flagg, or part it out and help people complete the Flaggs they already have?... I opted to go with the "parting it out" option. I've sold 14 Flaggs in the 20 years I've been doing this. Two of those were in the box, and all were complete except 4. These things are huge, a pain in the ass to set up and even more of a pain to complete. But the payoff is amazing. To have this nearly 8 foot long playset staring it at you just waiting to be played with? Nothing really compares to that - but there was no way I was going to take a 90% complete Flagg to toy shows with me.... but I will deliver the parts to you if you want to assemble one. As long as you swing by the next toy show I'm doing.... because NO ONE wants one of these to show up in the mail.... and I sure as hell don't want to pack one up and mail it out.... again.

Too much stuff….

Over the course of the next few weeks and months, you're going to see many items added to the site. I have a 12x12x10 Storage locker filled with items from Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Masters Of The Universe, and more all jammed into totes and boxes. I honestly don't know what is in all of them, and it's seriously starting to annoy me.

So, I'll be sorting through them all. I've already added a ton of vintage Star Wars items to the site - mainly re-stocks, but a ton of vehicle parts have also been put online. Expect more as I find them.

I know, just off the top of my head that there is at LEAST 7 totes full of G.I. Joe stuff.... Just finding the time to sort it all is going to take time. So, if you're not a member of this site yet, I strongly suggest doing so by hitting the main page (www.bountyhuntertoys.com) and making sure you don't miss out on any of this stuff when I'm done... because rest assured, I'll be sending emails to those people on the mailing list once I feel enough has been added. ;)

Wresting 2011.

http://tcrcomix.com/archives/500 - See that URL? Well, if you're a wrestling fan, you need to go read that.... And not just the parts about the guys you know about.

No. You need to read all of it, then soak it in.

I have been saying for YEARS that guys like Punk, Bryan, and others on that list were stars, and I know many folks that, to this day refuse to accept the fact that someone like Edge or Punk are phenomenal talents in the world of wrestling. Well, you're wrong, and when you read that url, you'll know why.

So go read that page.... Enjoy it, then youtube the guys you've never heard of and start enjoying wrestling again. 2012 is going to be the rebirth of wrestling becoming a "must see" event again, and I'd bet money that this months upcoming Royal Rumble is going to be the big push for it.

eBay Jerk.

Posted on December 16, 2011

Since when has it become regular practice for ebay buyers to hold your account "Ransom" until a transaction is completed? I don't sell much on ebay. I don't like the process, the fees, or most of the idiotic questions that come in about an item or the shipping process.
I recently sold something on there, and tried VERY hard to get the auction process completed with the buyer. The buyer in question was from China, and I'm assuming doesn't grasp the english language that well. He sent me a shipping address - which as all in Chinese.... great. I have no clue where to send this. So, I ask for an english address - and it made about as much sense. No problem. I'll pack this up, take it to the post office and see what they say.

"I have no clue where this is going".

THAT's what they said. So, after trying to talk to this buyer a few more times, I give up and tell him that :
1. Your address isn't confirmed with PayPal.
2. I can't get a shipping price for you.
3. I'm refunding your money for the item until you get it resolved.

Can you sense what happened next? NEGATIVE. Yep. A big old negative on the BHT ebay account - all because this guy couldn't get me a correct shipping address. I don't want to join the thousands of people that whine and bitch about how ebay was better "way back when".... but man... it sure was.

Stupid ebay jerk.

Update and updates

Posted on November 22, 2011

So, there hasn't been a "posting" here in over a month. Blame most of that on personal / family reasons. That stuff always that's precedence over this site, and always will. So, if you order something, and don't hear from me for 3 or 5 days, that's most likely why. Something else came up. I'm not slacking off on replying to you or shipping your stuff on purpose - something else more pressing came up, that's all.

Part of the other reason for a lack of an update is toy shows - ones I attend as a collector, and ones I set up at as a vendor. Add into that the piles of stuff I have to go through, and you'll quickly realize that doing one of these blog-posts just isn't in me at the end of the day.

Speaking of "stuff to go through". I added a ton of items today, and updated stock on many others. Nearly every section has been updated with re-filled stock on items, and newer stuff - never online before today, has now been put "online". ;) (Check "Recently Added Items" to view the "newer stuff".

While going through this stuff, I regained an entirely new appreciation for the original Kenner Star Wars line of figures. Memories of playing with them as a kid, making my dad watch as I re-created scenes from A New Hope, breaking Han Solo's head off because I thought he was dead at the end of Empire Strikes Back (it was way cooler as a kid to have Vader slice Han Solo's head off instead of freezing him in carbonite). Damn, I loved playing with these back then. Sometimes I truly do wish you could just go back, be a kid and play with this stuff again..... because, you know.... as a 38 year old adult, that would be just wrong to do now.... right?

Masters Of The Universe Classics

Posted on October 12, 2011

I blame my friend Ed 100%. You see, in the summer of 2010, Ed showed me He-Man and Skeletor from the MOTUC line. I was impressed. VERY impressed. I wanted to start collecting some characters from the line, but it was already two years in... All the "main" characters I wanted, I would have to buy on the secondary market... and some of them weren't cheap!

So, I first hit ebay. I find if you're just getting into a toy line, or starting to collect anything - ebay is usually your best bet. STRICTLY due to the large lots of various items that people are always posting on there. I checked it - saw some lots and thought to myself "Self, do I really need to collect these?"... After some back and forth, and an arm wrestle to break a tie - I decided I didn't need them, and would be passing on a great toy line.

Then came the Great Canadian Toy Show in Toronto at the Downsview.... and the guy set up NEXT to me, blowing out his MOTUC stuff. That bastard. Because of him, I bought my first MOTUC item - Orko w/ Prince Adam.

I opened it up about 5 minutes later, and I was now 100% hooked. I then bought his Skeletor, Zodiac and Stratos. That night when I got home, I hit ebay - found a lot of about 10 figures that I wanted - but the seller wouldn't ship to Canada.

->START RANT<-

WTF is wrong with some of you Americans? Do you not want our money? Us Canucks are always willing to pay the extra shipping, the extra fees, etc and wait awhile longer. Stop depriving your cousins to the north of some great toys and deals! You could be making SO much more money on ebay if you just shipped that shit to us in the first place!

->END RANT<-

Luckily, my pal Gary in the U.S. was willing to bid on all the auctions I wanted, and ship them up to me. Over the course of 5 months, my MOTU collection grew and grew - yet, I didn't actually have any of it yet.

Then that glorious day arrived. Gary and I were done. I was caught up - I got every figure I wanted for cost, or less, and they were all sitting in a box in my living room. If not for the help of Gary, I may of given up on this amazing toy line. Thanks Gary!

Now, here it is 7 months later. I'm still collecting them, I don't need Gary's help anymore as I just buy the new ones I want from www.mattycollector.com, and I've also gotten two of my other friends hooked as well.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing at this point.... I just know that I signed up for the 2012 Subscription service, and I NEVER sign up / join these things.... that speaks volumes for how great the detail is on these figures, and just how well of a job Mattel has done with it. Well done Mattel. I'm hooked for as long as you put these out!

Burlington Toy Show

Posted on October 6, 2011

Man, I really need to start updating this more. I had planned on doing a post about the amazing Masters of the Universe Classics line and how I'm hooked on it like a druggie on crack! But, I'll have to do it another time.

THIS Sunday is the Burlington Toy Show. It's one of the top 3 toy shows that I enjoy setting up at, and I think the promoter (Steve) does an excellent job with it. Need Pez? Talk to "Red". Need Star Wars, go see "Brinn". Looking for MOTUC? Go talk to Rob! Need Joes? Come see me. ;)

There's a great variety of toylines available at the Burlington Toy Show, and not just new! Vintage items are very well represented as well. Burlington may be out of the way for some of you, but I can guarantee you that you'll find something at this show that you either collect, like, or used to have. It's a fun show - and one that I have been attending, for years now.

Here's all the info you'll need to attend:
Sunday, October 9th, 2011
Burlington Toy And Collectibles Show
Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre
Hours: 10 am to 3 pm
Admission: $4

If you attend, be sure to stop by the BHT section and say hi!

Woodstock Toy Show – This Sunday!

Posted on September 20, 2011

If you're in Southern Ontario, and you've never been to a Woodstock Toy Show (http://www.woodstockshow.com) - you owe it to yourself to check one out. I've attended all Woodstock Toy Shows for the last 15 years now - missing one or two, sure... but we're not included those in this for now. ;)

The thing about the Woodstock Toy Show is that it's a big size show, with a TON of dealers showcasing a ton of various items for sale. There's always someone with Super-Heroes, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Wrestling, and of course Hot Wheels (Blah!!) Sports Cards are also at the show, but the toys FAR outweigh them nowadays. (Aren't SportsCards kinda dead anyway? - No insult to Sports Card collectors!) ;)

Anyway.... It can be a fantastic show, and it's always a ton of fun... well, for me and my buddy Patrick it is anyway. ;) So, if you're not doing anything this weekend, come on out and check it out.... and hey, if me "pimping" this thing isn't enough, I once found a Humanoid figure from Black Hole in a bag of Joes.... it cost me $0.18 cents. Sold for $400 on ebay.

Wanna come to the show now? ;)

Toy Show Season!

Posted on September 6, 2011

Toy Show season is now upon us here in Southern Ontario, and while I haven't kept up with this BHT blog like I should, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to keep it more up to day now that toy shows will be happening on a more regular basis. So, until the Woodstock show, I leave you with this.... and remember, this is the era of wrestling that people still call "When wrestling was good" ;)

Blah…. Blah… and Blah?

Posted on August 30, 2011

Ok.... so while the BHT Blog is back, I'm glad I didn't promise daily postings! .....or even weekly ones! It's been about a week since the last BHT Blog post - one a week is pretty much what I'm aiming for... and I messed that up my first month back doing it!

I attended FanExpo in Toronto this past weekend, and can't believe the size this thing has grown to. It's mind boggling to say the least. When I attend shows like this, I go strictly as a fan and don't pick up items to re-sell... which, could of been VERY easy to do with the many, MANY deals that were being offered in the last 30 minutes of the show.

I am glad to say that I finally tracked down some comics that I've been looking years for - both in the shape I wanted them in, and the price I wanted to pay (lower, actually!).

I know I promised some actually posting about toys this time around - but truth is, I have nothing to post pertaining to that. I've spent the last week renovating our home, and haven't had much time to do anything else. I do have a bunch of items I need to add to the site soon - and hopefully I'll get it done sooner, rather than later. In the meantime, hit the LOCAL TOY LINKS link to the right, (or, on the left if you're reading this "in" the BHT site). And come out to a show I'm setting up at. FYI - I do NOT set up at Hamilton Toy Shows anymore, but may be able to meet you there so you can pick up any orders you make. I really have nothing much more to say. The week had drained me and really?.... I just want to go to bed. ;)
